NEWSFIGHT! is a free game for both liberal and conservative news junkies based on the enormously popular site Digg.
The goal is to get the most stories for your side to the digg homepage.
Digg allows anyone to submit stories, and then other folks can digg (or vote for) them.
Stories that receive a lot of diggs, become 'popular' and are put on the homepage.
Becoming a popular story on digg is a big deal because it can bring anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 visitors to that story within a few hours.
We've identified the more liberal blogs and news sites, and the more conservative ones.
Anytime someone submits a story to digg from one of those sites,
it goes into that side's 'new stories' page.
Stories rise and fall on the 'upcoming' page as people digg them... these are stories that have the best chance of making it to the homepage.
If it does makes it to the homepage, that story goes onto the popular page, and that team gets a point.
The scoreboard in the middle of the page is the number of stories each side has gotten to the homepage in the last 12 hours.
So here's how to play
- You need a digg account. You can create one here.
- Then just go to the NEWSFIGHT! homepage and 'digg' the stories you want to see spread.
- Encourage your political allies (friends, family, colleagues) to come and do the same
- Come back once or twice a day to see how the battle for the news cycle continues
